DIAGNOdent Laser – This little devise has been approved by the American Dental Association and the Food and Drug Administration to diagnose small cavities.
It is a little wand like hand piece that can detect very small lesions that often go undetected on x-rays or by appearance. It gives us a read out so we can see if the cavity is moving over time or just an innocent pit in your tooth.
By diagnosing cavities when they are small, conservative and minimally invasive fillings can be places. It is all about conserving tooth structure.
